Two UC Davis alumni, who found their calling—and thriving careers—through the university’s Construction Management Certificate Program, come full circle to help build Sacramento’s transformative Aggie Square innovation district.
Through the creation of industry partnerships, Aggie Square will bring world class researchers and the communities they serve together.
Aggie Square builds on an entrepreneurial culture with more than 900 active patents. Last year alone, UC Davis helped launch 16 startups, made 107 invention disclosures and completed 85 licensing agreements. More than 75 percent of UC startups launched in the last five years are still active.
Earlier this month, employees from IBM got together at a reception and tour with UC Davis’ Office of Public Scholarship and Engagement and Aggie Square staff for introductions and friendly conversation.

UC Davis Chancellor Gary S. May and Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg today announced that they have chosen the UC Davis Health Campus in the Oak Park area as the location for the first phase of an innovation hub called Aggie Square.
