Saving Local Flavor

Aaron Anderson, owner of Purple Pig Eats, a well-loved Oak Park walk-up restaurant was faced with the difficult decision to close up his “Orange Shack”, a food operation just across the street from the Aggie Square project site, due to financial issues.  When the Aggie Square construction team heard about the closure, they got in touch with Aaron and offered him a way to continue offering his great breakfast and lunch fare for the hundreds of construction workers on the site daily.

Known especially for his BBQ, Aaron’s creative sandwiches focus on locally sourced ingredients and are influenced by his many years as a fine dining chef. As part of their commitment to supporting local and small businesses, the Aggie Square construction team created a pop-up space. Now Aaron operates his food truck directly on-site and maintains close relationships with the workers who stop by daily. He is dedicated to serving sandwiches that everyone will love and share with others.
