On May 30, 2024, the Aggie Square Community Engagement meeting was held at UC Davis Betty Irene Moore Hall (School of Nursing), and was hosted by UC Davis, the City of Sacramento, and Wexford Science + Technology. The agenda included a general update on Aggie Square, information on job, workforce development and career pathways, and an open house session with organizations.
The Translating Engineering Advances to Medicine (TEAM) Lab at UC Davis is a unit within Biomedical Engineering at UC Davis’ College of Engineering. The lab designs and manufactures devices to support research and to solve problems in human and veterinary health.
The February 29, 2024 Aggie Square Community Engagement meeting was held at the Oak Park Community Center and was hosted by UC Davis, the City of Sacramento, and Wexford Science + Technology. The agenda included a general update on Aggie Square, a look at Wexford’s philosophy related to public art and an overview of the upcoming opportunity for local artists to provide original murals for Aggie Square interior spaces.
This summer, the Mixed-use Residential Building and Building on the Square broke ground, the start of two more buildings part of Phase 1 of Aggie Square!
For 145 years, H.C. Muddox has been making clay products in Sacramento. Today, their bricks compose the University’s signature on the side of the Life-long Learning building, at the east entrance to Aggie Square.
Beginning April 2023, the developer, architects and general contractor at the Aggie Square construction site started a monthly photo contest. Any of the employees involved with the project can submit photos and the winners are selected by co-workers. Although there is a maximum of two submissions per person, participants are encouraged to photograph any and every thing that catches their attention at the build site.
On May 11, 2023 we hosted a community engagement meeting to answer questions, share information about the project's progress and highlight information related to subcontractor bidding and UC Davis employment opportunities.
This month, the Association of University Research Parks (AURP) honored individuals with deep connections to Aggie Square with awards of excellence at their recent international conference.
Our August 17 meeting took place at the Aggie Square Launch Space on Stockton Blvd. There, 50 attendees received an update on the project and afterwards attendees were invited to engage with representatives from the university's human resources; local employment, apprenticeship and training organizations; the project's contractor, Whiting-Turner, and more.
Aggie Square is being called the biggest economic development investment in Sacramento in a generation and aspires to transform the university and the capital region.
At a September Volunteer Leadership Summit, Aggie Square Planning Director Bob Segar gave a presentation about the impact Aggie Square will have on Sacramento. The video of this presentation gives a broad overview at how the project began and how it is taking shape now.
Segar's presentation is both a good refresher for people familiar with the project as well as an excellent starting point for those just becoming familiar with Aggie Square.
