Every quarter, UC Davis Aggie Square hosts community engagement meetings on a variety of topics including workforce development, youth opportunities, benefits for local residents, businesses and more. We strive to make the events as informative and engaging as possible. If you could not attend, we hope this recap provides a general overview of all that took place. Our August 17, 2022 meeting took place at the Aggie Square Launch Space on Stockton Blvd. There, 50 attendees received an update on the project and afterwards attendees were invited to engage with representatives from the university's human resources; local employment, apprenticeship and training organizations; the project's contractor, Whiting-Turner, and more.

Representatives from the Aggie Square team: UC Davis, City of Sacramento and Wexford Science + Technology were available to answer questions about the project. - Sacramento Employment Agencies
Representatives from the Sacramento Employment and Training Agency (SETA) as well as Sacramento Works shared more information about a wide variety of programs available to assist community members looking for jobs. - Whiting-Turner
Whiting-Turner, the general contractor for Aggie Square answered questions about the construction and how local businesses can become construction sub-contractors or become a vendor to Whiting-Turner for other goods and services. In addition, their student interns shared their experiences working on site and preparing for careers in construction management. - Sacramento-Sierra Building and Construction Trades Council (SSBCTC)
The SSBCTC apprenticeship coordinator, in addition to pre-apprentice program participants, provided information about the variety of career paths available to those interested in building trades careers. - UC Davis Human Resources
Staff from UC Davis Human Resources were available to talk about the many, currently open jobs at UC Davis and UC Davis Health, and to answer questions about applying. - UC Davis Small Business First
Staff from UC Davis Supply Chain Management shared information about the University's Small Business First program, which offers certified small, diverse, or veteran-owned businesses opportunities with UC Davis. - UC Davis Health Sheltered Bidding
For small and disabled veteran owned construction and professional services companies wishing to enroll in the new Sheltered Bidding program with the UC Davis Health campus, representatives from Facilities Design and Construction group were available to answer questions about enrolling.
