Building up Aggie Square

This summer, the Mixed-use Residential Building and Building on the Square broke ground, the start of two more buildings part of Phase 1 of Aggie Square! This is tremendous progress for Phase 1 — the Life-long Learning Building and East Lab Building broke ground in February 2022, 19 months ago — and the project team is excited about the next stage of construction that has begun. After completing the grading and underground work for these buildings over the summer, the buildings are going vertical with rebar, footings and first floor wall concrete pours. Progress on the Mixed-use Residential Building and Building on the Square is visible from Stockton Boulevard.

The Mixed-use Residential Building will have ground floor office space for UC Davis topped with five floors of residential space totaling 190 units above. Forty-nine of those apartments will be managed by UC Davis student housing for uses like undergraduate, post-doctorate or transfer pathway students or hospital residents at the end of their graduate education.

Building on the Square will comprise three stories of university offices and classrooms.

These buildings are expected to be completed in two years, in early fall 2025.
